Check the DOT code on the tyres if you're worried about the bundled tyres coming with new wheels. They're usually a 4 number code - the last two digits indicate the year of manufacture, whereas the first two digits are the week of manufacture in that year. Stay away from tyres with 3-numbered DOT codes (made in the 90's).

To tempe's defence, I bought 4 new Khumo KU31's in Dec last year, they had a build stamp of 4209, I figured 10 weeks old max!

i've been waiting for some KU31's in 225/40/18 to come into tempe for a bit over a week now, and they've just come in, so pretty safe bet they'll be very fresh
but will still check date code...

Are you guys happy with the KU31 Ecsta Sport?

How much was 4 fitted and balanced?....actually yours would be cheaper as i am looking at 255/40/R19.

I am not sure whether or not to go with these or spend the extra few hundred on Bridgestone Potenza R050A which i can get cheap.

Or go for Hankook K104 $225 each!!.

Or to stick with directional or assymetric for less noise???

    Go The Kumho's.
I am going that route when my car gets here in June.

    What wheels are you fitting?

I'm selling my original, immaculate 17inch Bostons with German made Dunlops which come standard on the Tig 147, only done 3,000km. Have a look on the VWwatercooled classifieds forum for details and make your 125TSI or 103TDI look less ugly. Cheers.
