I've looked into imported genuine and its ends up at over $2000 for set, that's more than double a replica set and to be honest the wheels are only for show - not doing any racing so don't need the advantage in weight saving or strength- cast vs forged...pfft I don't care. I've got a set of replica's on at the moment, had them for years and have had no issues what so ever with them.
Just can't justify the extra cost for genuine at this stage.

Re: Best place to get Replica BBS?

I bought my rs's for like 450 shipped, granted they did need some work to bring back to new condition, but still, couldn't buy reps for that. Lots of people buy like new examples from Japan and such for around the price you want to spend. If you look hard enough youll find them

I think you have confused yourself a little...did you honestly think about what you typed before you hit the post button? Real for the same price or less?

There's a reason why reps have a certain stigma attached to them, manufacturing quality dictates the $3K price difference.

That's what everybody is saying tho, if you look hard enough you can find real ones for a lot less than that. I wish i knew that when i bought my wheels

Since you're looking for CH (for a mkv golf based on those sizes?) , I'd keep an eye out on the classifieds on vwvortex.
    VWVortex.com - 5x112 Classifieds
It isn't just second hand stuff and some of the retail vendors will be willing to ship.

chuck a wanted ad up on vwgolf.net.au too - I've seen a couple of sets of CH reps go through there.

While i know bargains are out there, the people saying you can get 2nd hand BBS for less than reps aren't including the $800 they spent in time and materials polishing their 15-17" turds and then getting them redrilled away from 5x114.3, nor the cost of the spacers, new lug bolts etc etc.

Admittedly genuine RS and LM polish up pretty well, but the base price of an 18" set ready to mount up will not be $1k, which is the OPs indicated budget, so stop stomping his nuts.

Heres the cheapest way to get that fake look you so desire:
Drive Accessories KT950-15C 15" Chrome ABS Plastic Wheel Cover Replica Hubcaps - Pack of 4 : Amazon.com : Automotive

Get a sharpie and write BBS all over them and no one will be able to tell the difference to the expensive reps
