Hey guys, I'm currently looking for a set of wheels. Every morning on my commute I see two parked Beetles (the original Beetle) which I assume haven't been driven in a while. They both have mesh-style wheels which I can only assume came from the factory. I don't know what they're called, or pretty much anything about them. A Google search returns this picture as the closest to what I'm referring to:
What I'd really want to know is, what are they called, and what is the stud pattern? 4x100? And how much would I expect to pay for a set depending on condition?
Thanks for anything anyone can give me, really appreciate it![]()
beetles had a 4x130 and 5x205 (not 5x130) pcd from memory...
so either had a pcd swap or they are a completely different wheel and wont work on your 4x100 golf

Thanks for the responses guys
Just out of curiosity, since they're common with a 4x100 pattern, would they fit fine on other cars, like an older Honda Civic or other cars that have 4x100 stud patterns? Are these wheels commonly found?
The wheels you are describing similar to above were possibly "Hot Wires"? They are definitely not factory and to be honest most beetle owners hate them.
They were the hideous 80's/90's wheel choice. You should be able to pick up a set cheap as chips, we actually gave a set away because yes, no beetle owner with taste wants them.
I don't think these will fit straight up on other older smaller cars.
1963 Single Cab Ute: "El Concreto"
1955 Splitscreen Bus: "Nanna"
1960 LWB J&S Buggy: "Oihiki"
2012 Skoda Fabia Monte Carlo: "Biscuit"
That would definitely be it. I took a closer look at the wheels on my commute yesterday morning and they're definitely Hotwires.
I don't know if it's taboo, but can someone inform me why most Beetle owners hate them?
What kind of sizes did they come in? Was there ever a 14 or 15 inch 4x100 version? And why don't you think that they will fit straight up on other 4x100 cars?
Once again, thanks for the responses guys!
