Thread: BBS RS Pictures please - different sizes lips

  1. #11

neither, measuring to the red will only tell them that its a 16" wheel. It shouldnt really be an issue tbh,16's only came in 30 bolt(RS003's) or 34bolt small weaves. The larger OD(and by outside diameter I mean the actual diameter of the centre weave)weaves are from the factory 17's and 18's although some of the 17's use the smaller 34 bolt centres in the same way as RS003's use 15" sized centres.

Sorry if its confusing but as your ordering 34 bolt centres and if you specify that they are for 16" RS's then there is only one pcd(for the 34 holes)that they can offer and then lip widths to suit that pcd. If your just searching for 34 bolt lips that may be why its asking you for measurements

link to felgenfuchs ebay 16" 34bolt lip in 3.5" check their 'see other items' for other widths for 34bolt 16s

Oh no that picture is for measuring the width of the lips. like 2 inch 3 inch etc.

I'm wondering where do I measure upto. I start from where the lip bolts to the barrel and then which line do i measure to?

you measure to where the tyre sits against on the inside of the lip which I think would be the green on your diagram iirc :s

Why can't you do it with the tyre on, as from that diagram all measurement seems to be done on the outside which is visible with the tyre on. I might just not be looking at the diagram correct though?

Anyway I have measured my Rears, 1.25" I got I'm buying a 2" Lip to get it a bit bigger, but I read a post that says all 8" Wide BBS RS Lips have 2" Lips, Would this be true?

So that's why I wanted to get some photos of just how different sized lips look so I could make a decision.

On the above thread it says with the lip still on the wheel it can be measured, this picture below :

never figured to measure the thickness of the metal and subtract that to measure from the outside

I have 16x8s that are 1.5" lip and 6" barrels (flat mounted so the centers makes up the .5")

Yeah I had a look at the specs, just wondering how can you figure out the lip size from the specs, did certain width's have certain lips? Like do all 8" wide rims have 1" Lips ?

basically, their are ways to measure them, firstly everything is calculated in inches, secondly, every barrel, center and lip has a specific measurement that could actually solve the whole wheel specs.

a way to measure the lip size is by having a flat beam across your rims (without tyres mounted) then measuring the lip from the mounting face bolted to the center.... to the bottom edge of the beam, then simply minus 1/2" from the beam and you have you lip size

it shouldnt matter if you want to go bigger, what is the purpose of widening these wheels? also do you want to keep the look "legal" or give the car abit more show

also what are the wheels going on?
i can work out whats the best lip, tyre size and offset for your car
