Advice needed - 2 bad rims out of 5 on the Passat

    Hi all,

Love my Passat FSI Highline but don't live and breath the culture so I need some basic info.

I got two knackered rims out of the five.

I knew the spare rim was knackered when I bought my car - there was paperwork showing the repair quote. Didn't think twice about it.
This week I found out the front/right has hit something big and has a flat spot. Looks pretty knackered too - you can easily see the flat spot by eye.

So turns out I've bought a car that the last owner drove over something - fast. There's no other damage, just the rims.

First up, can you repair these wheels safely? The spare has been cracked and been "repaired". The local mechanic said it's not a repair, it's a joke. I wouldn't drive on it - so, chuck that one out.

For the front/right I know the Rim repair places around Melbourne will look at the flat spot but we're talking about light brittle metal yeah? I thought this would be a throw away too. What do you guys say?

Not knowing the cost or availability of Genuine VW Rims, I assume they're mega expensive so I find myself looking at an aftermarket set of four. (We'd all get color grey to hide the brake dust, right?).

I see sets for as little as $250 a rim. Bad idea? Sounds too cheap to be right. I also remember articles about cheap Chinese rims in Australia with crap metal. Is this them?

What would you guys do? Any help appreciated.

My dad's replacement wheel from vw on the cc was 750 odd a corner after hitting a massive hidden pot hole.
Wheels can be repaired sometimes, technically not legal however how would anyone know.
If the flat spot is in the rear of the wheel and in an up and down motion it can be usually fixed easily, if it's twisted the wheel from a side ways hit its a bit harder and not worth it on a standard wheel.
