5 x 98 on a 5 x 100

Hey guys, I've developed an interest in some of the wheels on Alfas but was wondering whether it was possible to have a set of 5x98's on my VR6 with a 5x100 pattern on it?

I've seen people go from a 4x98 to a 4x100 with little or no effort but has anyone done or heard about if this is possible with a 5x98 wheels?

You'll need wobble bolts. They're basically wheel bolts that have movable tapered seats so that they can sit slightly off-set from the hole but still bolt on fine. I think the difference in PCD must be less than 2.5mm, so it'd be OK to use them to go for 5x98 --> 5x100. I don't know where you can get your hands on some in Australia but I know ECS has them.

Alternatively you can have the original holes slightly widened (professionally) to accomodate the 100mm PCD. More ghetto though.

Thanks for that Ray and Stu, I looked a bit further into it and found that these bolts are available for the Alfa's going to 5x100 although not for the VW's.

Although I think a redrill will be more suitable since the Alfa's run an M12 x 1.25 bolt at 5x98. I realise now that by simply increasing the diameter to suit a M14 x 1.5, that would only increase the PCD to 5 x99 as its not like a 4 stud car with bolts on opposite sides of eachother.

Whats exactly involved in widening the holes? Are they just squeezing the diameters out or?...
