18" wheels for jetta tdi, warranty

hi,

bought a jetta (black) and have been pretty happy with the thing, but am now looking to upgrade the stock wheels (16 inch).

1) does replacing the stock wheels with aftermarket ones lead to warranty issues with VW?

2) do i need to be aware of anything else apart from replacing the TPMS sensors, and installing a suspension ride limiter thingy?

3) has anyone had any experience with the replica wheels from places like tempe? want to know about quality/ warranty issues.
in particular:

AUVW 18*8.0 P201 Hyper Silver

I would leave the stock wheels on the car,they are awesome,and are called Atlantas.
I love mine when clean,as the chrome/Grey looks so good against my Silver bodywork.
I think they suit the Jetta in any of the colours.

no issues with warranty whatsoever; just use the correct tyre size. 225/40 for 18" 225/35 for 19" or 225/45 for 17"

whats this "suspension ride limiter thingy" you speak of lol?? you just put the wheels on and drive away.

tempe tyres stuff isnt the best quality but its passable... id suggest keeping an eye out on ebay for a few weeks till something comes up that you like.

no warranty issues.. usually an insurance issue.
have not dealt with tempe as i found my wheels locally.

I have a set of the AUVW rims (bought from audi) on my car. Theres a pic in the Gallery. I think they look great.

If you really want to, have a look on ebay. I have seen the replicas on there too.

The suspension travel limiter is a good investment at $54 as it limits the scrapping / bottoming out....i told my insurance company and there was no difference in cost....

Yeah it the VW part name for bump stop. I was told by the dealer that when a customer asks for the option 18" on the gti or jetta they put them on

hi, thanks for the replies. i ended up finding some new 18" visions on ebay for a pretty good price. just waiting for delivery from eastern states at the moment.

got a couple more questions:

3) where is the best place to have the TPMS ripped off my old wheels and put on the new ones? is this something i could do myself? and does it have to go to a vw dealership, or can a tyrepower/beaurepaires type shop deal with this and still keep warranty valid?

Tyres which grip well tend to wear quicker because they're made from softer compounds, and they tend to cost more too. Add the size/profile you're asking for, and a budget of $200 a corner just means you're really up against it.

To be honest, I've never understood why people buy expensive cars, add expensive wheels, but then skimp on tyres - they are potentially the most important aspect of your car in terms of safety.
