18" Rims for Golf 118 TSi

I got golf 118tsi with sports pack I would like to chance my rims from 17" to 18" x 8 but as far as I know the vw accessories book told me that I have to set my rear axles chamber to 1 45' to provide sufficient wheel clearance so is that mean I have to change that in order to fit my 18" rims? What will happen if I did not do any changes to my rear axles?
    Thank you

I believe that'd be camber, not chamber?

AFAIK, the correct fitment for a Golf TSI with 18s would be 18x7.5", not 18x8". There's also the issue of wheel offset to consider (varies between rims of different styles).

I believe your local wheel shop should be able to handle minor camber/caster/toe adjustments to your 118TSI to fit and correctly align 18x7.5s.

I installed 18 x 8 rims, with 50mm offset, and haven't adjusted the camber yet for the 18" rims, and have not had any rubbing problems. What I dont know is whether the camber for the 17' rims is the same as that for the 16"rims.

Below is a wheel offset calculator to help work out what the combination of wheel offset and rim widths mean.
