There is a Mk1 2 door for sale in Melbie, that looks very straight. See For Sale section.
Well here Iam.4 years after leaving England and the only thing I miss is the v-dub scene and my mates who I made thru the scene.
Me my missus the cabby and sometimes the dog went all over the UK and europe to shows.
The cab is a91 sportline bought completely standard in 94 and the mods took place over a period of over 7 years.
mods included 16v conversion on twin45 dells with schrick cams and lightened and balanced bottom end (engine built by Ian birch of Dubsport he of the twin engine golfs fame) ashley 4-1 manifold milltel stainless exhaust system, lowered 70mm plus on AVO coilovers adjustable for hieght and damping, RH cuprader 15*7 alloys with custom offset and spacers fitted to clear brake calipers, debadged allround with all holes weldeded flush, single wiper(i still have the plans to convert yours somewhere if anyone wants them let me know) single head light grille and grille spoiler, vr6 lower spoiler inpro lenses all round.full recaro interior momo snap off steering wheel and if you look closly you'll notice the seethru swatch watch type dials.plus loads of little tweaks and touches here and there.
I am now in a position to acquire another project so if theres a good mk1 or 2 2door out there let me know engine not important as I can get hold of a reco g60(my wife wants a split screen combi camper)

Nice car, Mate. I'm a sucker for the colour!
I took the liberty of fixing the code for your pics. Hope you don't mind If you want to see how to enter the code for thumbnail links, go to "Edit" and have a look. It's a good idea to cut and paste good code into a new post and copy the code for your new pic. Then delete the pasted code, of course
AWESUM!!!!!!!

Great to have you here, I'm not a pom of any sort and although you'll miss your mates I'll guarantee you will find plenty here. Your experience will help us build up the scene in Aus I'm sure.
Love the cab too.
Nice ride man... You said you had the plans somewhere lying around to convert wipers to single, do you think I could have them?? I have an 83 mk1 would it make a difference?? pm me cheers
do i spot a mk3 vr6 euro front lip?
mad!
regarding the single wiper i never had a problem with the twin wiper set up the single wiper system was mainly done for cosmetic reasons following the then DTM style trend but it worked perfectly.
the vr front spoiler took a bit of jiggery pokery to get to fit but was worth it as i think it looks factory
will also fit mk2 big bumbers pretty easily
This was mean't to be my parting shot before I left Blighty.
But after waiting 2 years for immigration to get back to us they finally gave us the thumbs up half way through a project
Car started life as a 1.1 formel E
Stripped car completely and stored everything in the front room of the house, very understanding wife
Resprayed in Audi java green, removed door handles relocated fuel filler inside hatch and lots of smoothing and removing.
As you can see I had no garage so all the work was done where the car is on the photo's which was no mean feat with northern English weather
The rear hatch is elongated using some of a volv0 440 bonnet
and I never actually liked it after all the work I put into it(the things you do to try and come up with something new)
As you can see from this piccy with the base car only being a 1.1 I had to cut out the offside engine mount point and invert it to take a GTI motor but got there in the end
With lots of regrets I sold it on as an unfinished project but on the plus side I've still got the G60 motor I planned for the install.
