Wow totally forgot I had this thread, haha!

So it's been ages but I think it's time for an update. Apologies to everyone that asked me questions, over the past few months I've been flat-out busy with work and haven't been on the forum much.

So the rims I bought are OZ Racing Futura's, 17x8 and they were coloured bronze by the previous owner who is also a member on this forum. I paid $1000 for the set including bolts, rings and a pair of spacers. I know it's not a bargain, but I think it's a fair price and I'm not one to low-ball other forum members.

The truth is I actually had my heart set on Futura's but kinda gave up on the idea when I found out they didn't make them in 5x100 stud patterns. I was looking at CCW LM5's and organised for a friend in the States to help me get them, but then these Futura's came up and I jumped at the chance. Going with these used Futura's has saved me a couple grand that the LM5's would've cost me that will now go towards getting my stage 2 done.

Here's a pic when they first arrived:

They're in great condition but I didn't like the colour. It was then I realised I needed special sockets to take them apart because OZ Racing uses a proprietary 10-point socket Jumped on eBay and managed to find a set of 8mm and 10mm sockets. They took ages to get here and while they didn't fit perfectly, they did the job.

Once I took the rims apart, I sent the centres off to the powder coaters and went about cleaning up the barrels and lips. The powder coaters I used were ACE Powdercoating at Slacks Creek.

To be honest, I'm not entirely happy with the results. Two of the centres had some bubbling, and they told me that it was due to impurities in the cast metal being brought to the surface during the heat process. Thing is though, these rims are forged and should have already been through a heat process? I dunno I'm not a powder coater, so anyway they redid them and fixed one but there were still bubbles in the other centre:

They didn't want to do it again and I didn't want them to either, so I paid for the job and took my centres home. From memory it cost me about $225? Somewhere around there.

During Christmas my friend in the UK was coming home to visit so I got him to bring back some floor mats for me. I ordered a set of Oettinger floormats and got them delivered to his UK address, and being the top bloke he is he brought em in his luggage. HOWEVER! The supplier sent the wrong mats!! They sent me mats for a LHD car instead of RHD that I needed!

At first I thought it was my mistake, so I emailed Oettinger and asked them if I was able to return the mats and have them exchanged. I was willing to pay all postage and processing fees, but the customer representative asked me first to send a photo of the mats. She then investigated the issue and found out that I had ordered the correct set as did she, but the warehouse supplier in Germany had made the mistake. I was still willing to pay for postage for replacements, but in the end Oettinger sent out a new set at no additional cost! They even sent it to my door through TNT international express. I have to say I'm totally blown away by their customer service and I've decided to buy my turboback exhaust from them when it comes time to upgrade that (soon!). Here's piccies of the floor mats:

So I have a spare set of LHD driver/passenger mats for an MK4..haha! I'm not sure what to do with them, eBay I guess? Or maybe just use them as bathroom mats lol.

All this has been happening with me getting smashed with work, but the 3 pieces for my rims are now clean and finally ready to be rebuilt. Hopefully I can get it all done and slap some tyres on before the meet this weekend!!

    Here you go!

What do you guys think? Do they look better with the centre cap on or off? (I haven't got new decals off eBay yet)

The photo isn't that great cos it's from my iPhone, but I'll take some pics with a proper camera later. Still need to torque the bolts up properly and seal the rims so there's some work to do yet if I'm to get em ready for the meet this weekend.

Anyone know where I can get decals for the wheels? Need 75mm stickers.
If I can't find any I might just get some long bolts and run them without the caps
