Great thread Lucas. Where did you source the R8 oil cap from? I'm interested in this for my MK3 Octavia RS (I believe it will fit?). Do you need to modify the R8 oil cap in any way to fit or is it a straight swap?

Also, admire how you look after your ride. Any tips on keeping the engine bay clean, what cleaners to use? Thanks.

Hey Venom - you can get the R8 cap from here: Bold-Sport.com :: Audi R8 Oil Cap

You might be the first person to try this oil cap on a MkIII Octy, but im pretty certain it will/should fit unless they have changed the oil spout on the engine. If by chance it does not fit, im sure you wont have much trouble selling it.

The R8 oil cap splits into 2 pieces (top and bottom) and in order to get the cap to sit horizontally in line with the engine you need to adjust the top and bottom of the oil cap and then click it back together. Takes 2 mins to do and does not require any tools. Some info/pics here: Modifying an Audi R8 oil cap | Audi-Sport.net

The engine bay is actually quite easy to keep clean. Every few times that i wash the car ill pop the bonnet and give the engine bay a very quick spray. I just use my snow foam lance with the car cleaner shampoo in it to quickly spray the engine bay area which loosens any dust/dirt/grease etc, let it sit for a minute or so and then spray off with fresh water. Then chamois all the water off. The key is doing it on a regular basis otherwise it becomes a bigger job and you need to use more cleaner and more water. If you do it often then you only need to use a small amount of cleaner and water. If you do not have a snow foam lance you can put some carwash and water into a spray bottle, and then use the spray bottle to spray the engine bay.

You are right, the supplied boost tap (which looks like a 42DD unit) does not allow the PCV hose to click onto it. Looks like ill have to modify it like you did. Im also using a better quality silicone hose.

Hmm, interesting, I have also experienced the little inline vacuum filters filling up with oil very quickly & since I have discovered I have a faulty PCV, I am replacing the OEM breather box with an 034 motorsports billet unit & 034 manifold plug/ boost tap & 42dd Ultimate Catch Can, so should hopefully kill a few birds

Love your attention to detail mate, but I have a question..

..did you really remove the seats and pressure wash them!? Wouldn't the foam retain a lot of the moisture and then mold?

Hey mate - yes i removed the seats as part of my cleaning regime. I didnt "saturate" the seats with the pressure cleaner, was more of a quick once over to get some moisture into the fabric and initial part of the foam to make cleaning easier.

If you leave the seats out in the sun to dry really well they are fine.
