Can't believe that dump is a few years old

God these golfs seem to have so much room to work in the engine bays.
    So room
    Much envy

My other German fling: Mk6 GTI

^ those pics of the dump pipe as from when it was new and i installed it on my friends GTI. Two years on its now a more golden colour from the heat.

The GTI has a bit of room in the engine bay - sadly the R does not with all the AWD running gear.

This weekend ive been detailing (3 stage buff with Menzerna compounds, then DuraGloss hand polish). Sooo shiny. A time consuming process, but was necessary to remove swirls and bring the paint back to a showroom finish. Really happy with the Menzerna compounds.

Some pics taken in the work car park this morning. It's shady and the iPhone doesn't do it justice, but you get the idea.

Reason I ask is I was curious how the fitment was in relation to guard rub and poke beyond the guards. I remember when analysing my wheel choice on the Mk6 that +9mm poke was on the cusp of the guards (over Detroits) - the VMRs on x8.5 ET45 would be another +10mm over this?

Did you have to do any other work to avoid rub or get them closer to the guards?

Either way those pics in the car park are gorgeous - love the look of this one.

Funnily enough the offset is not stamped on the inside of the spokes, so im taking BMR Autowerks word for it and saying they are ET50, even though the VMR website suggests they are ET45. According to BMR Autowerks, this style rim in 18" is the only wheel in the VMR range where they do a ET50.

Also note that these rims are 18x8, not 18x8.5 as you thought.

The rims/tyres sit within the guards a small amount (im not a fan of poke/stance/stretched tyres or any of that stuff) and have not had any rubbing to date. The tyres are 225/40/18 (same size as fitted to the optional Detroits) so im hoping they will not rub ever or very rarely.

I'll get some other photos showing the tyres in relation to the guards and ill PM you the pics.

    Thanks Lucas, much appreciated.

Yeah I'm only going off the VMR site which may not be up to date, so this may very well be the only x8 ET50 wheel in the range - that certainly ties in with what you are saying with where they sit in relation to the guards.

A few long awaited items arrived in over the last few days.

McGard M14x1.5 gloss black ball/radius seat wheel bolt set including lock nuts (Part # 68018-BK). These fit perfectly on the VMR wheels and look great. Very high quality gear. I was a bit worried that the key for the lock bolt would not fit in the hole on the rims, but it does - so happy days.

Lakin gloss black front numberplate bracket and Kingpin numberplate covers. I’ve got the Lakin bracket on my Golf R and its very good quality and looks a lot nicer than the factory plastic bracket. The Lakin gloss black bracket teamed with the Kingpin numberplate covers will tidy up the front of the car.

Unitronic intake finally arrived after 2 months, and it definitely looks the part. Very nice quality with a great finish on it, and excellent quality silicone hoses, brackets etc. I’ll get this installed this week.
