Nice to know it's interchangeable, although personally I preferred the Mk6 look with the temp shown in the dial and general button layout
that's very interesting and looks awesome. was it a one for one replacement (i.e all the electronics work?)?Mk7 Climatronic unit.
btw, how are you finding that Unitronic CAI? i'm interested to know if the noise coming from it is quite loud... like some of the other 'open' intakes i've seen?

Yes everything works fine - all the buttons and functions work as per the old Mk6 Climatronic - albeit with a more streamlined look and feel. The Mk7 Climatronic layout is much easier to use/adjust while driving.
I did the same upgrade in my Golf R at the start of the year so i already knew it fitted and worked fine.
The Unitronic intake is really well made and fits brilliantly. Really happy with it. It sounds nice but not too loud (mabye 10-15% louder than an APR Carbonio when you put your foot down). Its not as loud as the intake i have on my Golf R.
Each to their own of course Ryan, but personally i find the new Mk7 Climatronic layout much more streamlined (less buttons/less cluttered), easier to use and more modern - and the temp adjustment allows 0.5 degree temp changes too. I think if you get to have a play with one you will want to buy it
Great cars Lucus_R! Love your R. Hey what did you use to clean the exhaust tips? they look like new!! Cheers
Couple of new pics from today after a wash and quick polish.
Realised my timing chain tensioner is officially buggered. Here is a recording of a cold start on our GTI this morning. Car had not been started in about 10 days.
Ive been making enquiries to get the tensioner replaced.
Also fitted my new JOM numberplate lights. Love them. Will be selling my Racing Dash ones if anyone is interested.

Nice design with the ballast on there.

Timing chain and associated parts (one time use bolts, timing chain guide and metal timing case cover/seal) replaced last week. Rattle noise is now gone and i can rest easy knowing that i don't have to worry about the tensioner failing anymore. See this thread for more info: click here
Ordered some more bits and pieces too:
- Podi boost gauge + steering column mount ordered this week.
- JPM Coachworks leather gear boot/gaiter ordered (black leather with red stitching) as the stock gaiter is a bit worn from the previous owner.
- VW OEM 9W7 Bluetooth kit
- Few bits and pieces from ECS Tuning (oil filters, engine bay sound deadening piece, wiper blades etc)
Hi Lucas, interested to hear if you experience an ill fitting PCV hose to the Podi supplied boost tap, as I had to Dremel the barbed end of the boost tap so the PCV hose would click on as it should. I also turfed the supplied silicon vacuum hose for a 3mm wall thickness type Cheers
