Been painting today! Sprayed the bottom of the passenger door as there were small bubbles at the very bottom. Not the best best pics because the lighting in the garage is bad.

    Here they are:

You can see where the bubbles were where I sprayed them in white stonechip after buffing down (I didnt have any primer left). That was a few months ago now through!

Half way through the wet and dry stage.

    Primered

    Finished

I will get some better pics when its outside again.

P.S. Just thought I'd add - some Maestros have VW gearboxes

    Thanks

How do you do your painting? Is it using a rattle can/pressure pack, or with a compressor and gun etc?

Cause the end results look preffy good.

I'll give you a tip Jarred.

If you use a compressor and gun.

When you have finished your top coat, remove most of the risidual paint from the gun and leave say quarter full.

Then mix like half a can of thinners into the can, give it a good shake.

Then spray a thin top coat of the new mixture and the paint when it dries will be like looking in the mirror.

I have worked in the automotive industry all my life, from bodyshops, to rebuilds to interior retrimming and always engineering !!

Trust me this is a top tip !!

    hello from Australia

    That's a good looking car !!

Shame about the insurances though i remember my first XR3 in the UK was 600 quid and a thousand for insurance!!

I spent a few years up in sunny Edinburgh and loved it - where abouts are you?

I suppose the end result is pretty good considering its only rattle cans. Im just doing the best I can with the rattle cans until I learn how to use the compressor and gun we just bought or until I get it done prefessionally.

    Thanks
