Shaping up to be a sweet car
Next on the list

- New tyres with slightly taller sidewall (either 215/40/17 or 205/45/17)
- New steering wheel
- Upgraded intercooler (stock front mount suffers badly with heat soak, and if intake temps pass 50 degrees Celsius, the ECU noticeably reduces power)
- Powerflex engine mount insert Engine Mount Insert - Fiesta ST
A box may have been delivered yesterday with one of the above mentioned items inside.
Shaping up to be a sweet car
New intercooler arrived and was fitted a few weeks ago. Headlights out, undertrays off, bumper off and some of the original plastic air diverters behind the bumper need to be either trimmed or removed to make room for the much larger intercooler.
The original intercooler is not only quite small, but made to a very low price point and the quality is not very good. The new intercooler, although a china-special Wagner knock off, is certainly a vast improvement over the stock unit. Fitment was perfect, with everything fitting and lining up perfectly - with the only thing needed (which I knew about prior to purchase) was a 10cm long piece of steel flat bar to secure the top of the intercooler to the bonnet latch bracket. There was no trimming or modifying of the bumper required which I was happy about.
The original intercooler is a known bottleneck on these cars, and not able to handle several full throttle runs without significant heak soak resulting in engine power being pulled back.

Lucas, I have neither the skills or the enthusiasm to do what you do with your vehicles; it takes a special person to be able to fit this into your life, and at the same time give constructive detailed advice to many people on the forum. I am a keen observer of your posts and find them very interesting .Thanks for the continuing information and the interesting and methodical way that you write, and obviously go about your tasks. Cheers-John.
