i have thought about it but not sure if it would be a good idea because the coating also traps heat in the ic piping so it would heat soak fairly quickly in traffic. that's my theory anyway, plus most big power builds don't wrap the ic piping

But the internal air temp would still be cooler than that of the engine bay???

haha not yet mate, still running the base tune but have correct a few minor mechanical issues and probs gonna re-log it now, will be interesting to see if the phenolic gasket does anything for intake temps. really need to lean it out a bit though, this is what happened to a set of spark plugs in about 1000km of driving

its definitely a very safe tune haha

So as some of you may know the old girl has been of the road for a couple of weeks. Lost oil pressure cruising on the highway and spun a big end . Luckily the damage was minimal but still the engine had to come out and a rod and the crank needed replacement. Luckily Gavin came to the rescue with a spare crank and helped me put it back together. Engine has now got more arp goodies and a fresh oil pump. Big thanks to everyone who helped me out donating time and advice, without you guys I probably would've given up but she is back on the road now and ready to shred some tires pics of the carnage soon!

    For sale

1.8t crank. Slightly used, would make great boat anchor

IE connecting rod, should buff out. Would be ideal wind chime ornament

All those shiny things used to be the bearing for cyl 1's connecting rod

Looks nasty, what caused the loss of oil pressure? Suprised the crank got damaged aren't they forged

oil pump was seized and relief valve was very week. The crank itself is fine but the journel for the bearing is rooted. Could ground it down and run over sized bearings but had a spare so no need.
