Gavin pretty much hit the nail on the head with his reply. If you get everything from a wrecked car you could do it real cheap and probably make most of your money back selling the rest of the car. I would stear clear of a polo loomas the wiring lengths and mounting points may be different. My tt harness literally clipped into all the mounting points and grounds. I had to get most of the sensors separately az the guy already sold the engine but i still put it together for under a grand not including the tune.

This is a complete list of all sensors that i replaced or added...

    Maf
    Map
    Coil packs
    Both o2 sensors
    Throttle body
    Accel pedal (get harness too!)
    Knock sensor x2

Get a seperate wideband gauge as well, the innovate ones are like $300 and super easy to install.
Youll also have to resistor the n112 and n249 or add these systems in but dont do that.

The only thing i could think of that would make it tricky is if you have a t10a connector nearthe battery instead of a t14a connector. Apparently only really early mk4s came with a t10a connector but mine is nov 99 build and it has the t14a plug. Even if you do have the t10a plug its just a couple of wires that need repining.

Well thats the fun bit!! The obd port works as normal so it's just like tuning any car with the me7 ecu (s3, tt, polo gti etc) im running the stock maf and injectors and just staying out of boost until i get the tune done through gavin. This is where having an afr gauge comes in handy

Did you have to re-code your key to the new ECU? The loom and ECU I sourced has the steering column and key with it, which got me thinking......

Usually the foreign ecu needs to be coded to your car. And depending on what version of security you might need additional information. Let me know otherwise as I'm curious aswell.

    Ross-Tech: VAG-COM: Immobilizer 2 ECU Swapping

Do you guys have a picture of the loom? Or where it might be in the engine bay? I can't really visualise where it goes.
