    Gunter Golf,not posing!

Just a couple more shoys of my now retired twincam Golf. Did every type of motorsport with him apart from targa. Heaps of trophies, heaps of good placings with him, stacks of class wins. Surprised lots of competitors, sometimes myself. Only 3 DNFs in six and a half years. One wasn't mechanical, T boned a Lucalier at Symmons. One was a snapped exhaust cam in Rallye of Burnie. Std 1.8 TC, lightened flywheel, last year was 2 litre TC. GTI brakes. Bilsteins, Kings micro springs, early GTI brakes with rear discs. NO rocket science!!!

Got stacks more photos if anyone wants me to post more

A few more for you. Got 100s of piccies. You want wheel lifting, check this out. Used to worry the blokes behind when the wheel would stop spinning! Since tightened the suspension for racing. Had the sealed rally springs in it when the first photo was taken. Enjoy!

Im so jelous.... I want to race so bad!..... The cheapest form of motorsport I could think of was track days.... took me ages to think of what car to get.... I reckon a mk1 golf with 16v is awsome value for money.... spend 5G would have u some well wicked lap times

Hey! Its easy to keep the costs to a minimum to start with. You've got learn to crawl B4 you walk. I started with an old passat motor and probably enjoyed myself the most before I spent bigger money. I enjoyed the road rallies & hillclimbs the most. All of the winging and talk at circuit races turned me off, plus it cost a fortune to race with licences and suits ect. I finished 3rd in one race and they put me on the second last spot of the grid in the next! Thats in a 22 car grid! Politics, I spose.
Glad I did it but would luv to do Targa. Gunter is sitting in my shed at the moment covered in birdsh.t.
And yes, you probably saw these photos! Navigator was Ben who owns the beige lowrider Golf in the Buckland drive photos

your heart must of been pumping on that corner.
I don't think you could of cut it any finer without it looking like a turtle on its back.

There was a Healy already off on that corner and you can see his OK sign in the first photo that was against the guidepost. Another 2 cars went off on that corner after us. They werent so lucky. It was 25 kms into a 26Kms stage and we were flying. Past 6 badly pranged cars before that, o ne was an upside down evo6. All I said to Ben in the intercom when I realised we were buggered was, Nuh! He looked up from his notes and held his breath! Always go in co/drivers side first!!!
We still finished that event, Rally Tas 8th outright. Took 3 guide posts on that corner. Won class too. Check out the minimal damage, Replaced the guard 3 days later and did supersprints the following weekend. And no, back then I didn't have a diff.
