Hey Mel! oops, girl, thanks a lot for that, I reckon you should have told me to buy 18s. Nah, they look ok.
And yes, I think I might chage the front lip.
Cheers, Andrew

VW: it aint just a car, its a way of life

The new wheels look fantastic mate! I love your car too!
Dump it, Dump it, Dump it...
good on ya! sell them to pologti for his polo and go for 18's
I fantasize about the day when I get a new beastie, GTI, R32 Porsche 911 Turbo(Dreamer, nothing but a Dreamer{thanks to Supertramp}) when I can slot on each corner a set of mesh BBS's. By putting BBS's on your GTI has taken it to a whole other level. I suppose I could consider some 2nd handers for the Passat, but I want to get some mechanical stuff done first.

Hey Vanderliker, one day you too will get a great car, I am sure. I managed to buy a 12 month old mk1 Golf when I was 21. I felt special to have such a new car back then! (showing the age thing again!) My first new car was my mk4 1.6 in 2001. It took that long. Only by being in business could I afford it, and thgat was an even greater feeling. 24 hours after I had the springs and wheels on it.
The mk5 GTI? A definate classic, love it!
And golfcart, we might have to order some springs when you want some Paul. Cheers, see you soon mate

Thanks gtimkv, I sort have been there done that. I am nearly 41 and I am only very new seeing the VW watercooled light, due to the generosity of some friends of mine. Been through some tough times over the nearly the last ten years. I have had a few new cars, all Holdens (sorry to blasphem). I'll probably only get a new one via a lotto win or some stroke of luck as I am a single Dad on a disability pension and I am going through a custody battle for my son. We get by; just as long as I look after the Passat it should look after me, as it has already given good service and so far since I have had it been very reliable and I will slowly do some mods to it when i can afford it. I suppose the next car purchase I'll be involved with is for my son, who due to in part of this forum would like a Golf MK1 or 2 as his first car.Originally Posted by gtimk5

Sorry to hear your plight. Pity you hadn't found VWs years ago. I hope you find a good one for your son.

Good choice in wheels buddy 18's would be perfect, but if you lowre it the 17's will look very good too, and probably handle better
