Good to see you finally got the car there Cam, its alot better than the i30 I'm guessing
G'day all!
Woo!
Its finally registered today after quite a bit of hassle.
Here are some pics to start off with. The first couple were taken with my phone so apologies for the quality.
Many many more to come. Immediate plans are to get the windows tinted.
Then within a few months get a set of 17's. Anyone selling their stock GT sport rims? Or similar style? If so let me know because I might be interested!
Cam
p.s I've had the pleasure of driving the GT sport for the last few days.
You get quite a few looks with the green P's on. Probably think I'm a yuppie!

Thanks Golf Houso.
I'm loving the car so far. Took it for a small drive this evening and really pleased with the handling, power and acceleration. It would leave an i30 sitting at the lights with ease!
The i30 was a nice car, but the Golf is so much better engineered and personally I think the build quality itself is substantially more noticeable. Just doing things like closing doors, reversing and changing gears it all seems to 'feel' better. No clunks, no blue smoke, no shuddering...lol
Good to see your liking it, I know the i30 isn't a bad car but it sounds like you did really get a rotten one, with all the smoke and clutch going out a 1300km's...
Would you consider removing the badges on the back and perhaps colour coding the black rub strips? I reckon it would tidy the car a bit more and few folks would know what variant it was

I'm not too fussed on de-badging.
I quite like it how it is
Besides...then it would look too much like Mischa's from the rear...lol
Not that that is a bad thing, but I prefer the stock look.
The strips down the side could perhaps be colour coded.
Depends how much effort it was going to take. Unfortunately I'm not too handy when it comes to detailing cars (I'm fine washing + polishing them) but as far as body/mechanical work I'm about as useful as tits on a bull.
Sad I know, but I dont want to bugger anything up.
Fair enough, well for the trim you could just take it to a panel beater, they'd remove it and paint them according to your car's colour code. It wouldn't cost too much I'd imagine, and make a big visual appearance, Maris has a white 1.9tdi which came standard which the colour coded trim, it looks great imo. I personally would do them myself, but I don't have a nice near new comfortline either
Oh and keep an eye out on Ebay for rims, 5x112 with around +50 offset, here are a reasonable set in Sydney for example:

Are you the kid off the TV commercial with his old man 'haggling'?
Nice car on your P's!
2000 Mk IV GTI
I havent been on TV, but yes Dad did the haggling for me.
Haggling is a fine art, something which comes with experience and dare I say.....age.
No he's not !! Because I'm the old man and I did all the haggling on the phone, that way I wasn't able to physically abuse the salesman at the dealership when he starts talking crap !
A note which might be of interest to some people when next buying a car (new or used, privately or from a dealer) and that is to make sure that the Australian Compliance plate doesn't have any numbers or letters missing (from when first fitted at new) this one did, due to a stuff up by VW and the dealer that didn't do their Pre Delivery inspection properly, 18 months earlier. The hassle afterwards trying to sort a new one what with rebirthing security measures, which are good of course but not in this particular instance, was a total P.I.T.A. It's all sorted now anyway
Who you calling old sonny eh eh !!!! Any more comments like that from you and I'm having the locks on the house changed while your at work !!
