I ran out of time when I posted this yesterday so I couldn't put up much info. It was originally a private import from South Africa into NSW. I bought it from a guy in Melbourne and drove it back to Brisbane. It is the "Highline' or Executive spec. So it has leather, power windows, power steer and mirrors, aircon etc. When I bought it it had a fairly tired KR 1.8 16V. I then put in a 9A low mileage 2.0L 16V in it. Back in the days that I owned it 98 octane was virtually impossible to buy in Brisbane.

I then got a VSam programmable ignition put in it by ChipTorque on the Gold Coast and it dynoed at 88kW as I recall. Being a 9A it didn't have the top end of the KR but it was just so torquey it was fabulous as a daily driver. My Colour Concept VR6 only pulled just over 90kW on the same dyno about 18 months later. At the time my wife had an Australian delivered MK 2 GTI with the asthmatic 8V RV engine in it. The difference between the 2 was chalk and cheese.

I put the big bumpers on it and also got cruise contol fitted with the factory stalk and also fitted Koni yellows.

My favourite car is my current Polo GTI. It reminds me a lot of the 16V above because of the handing and the torque.

Looks good...not that I am bias or anything...

    Heres mine....

The 9A was the US spec 2.0 16v right? And Europe had the ABF?

Ive got an ABF in mine and it goes great, loves pulling hard all the way up those hills!
