As far as I know my friends car (the first) drives ok. My car does however make some weird noises and it definitely does some odd jerks etc. Its a little hard to pin down the conditions under which I get the noises and jerks because its fairly variable. I have noticed a funny sort of flapping noise when starting recently but only when I first start it in the morning, It doesn't sound like a "can of marbles" at all.

What sort of noises are you getting? Mine makes a noise similar to a paint can ball rattle but is only heard with windows up inside the car and is very intermittent. The other noise is like a plastic of thin metal ticking sort of noise only heard with windows down and driving by something for it to echo off. Occasionally mine will make a clunk going from second to first.. Only have 55,000 k's on the clock...
