I'm begining to think the dash display can be a bit optomistic sometimes.
The polo doesnt have dash display calcultor, so i just do the calculations myself

My Mk1 1500cc unmodified consistently runs 4.8 litres/100, 90% highway running , and speeds between 80 & 90 kph. It just seems happy around that speed range. I did change my brakes over to vented and larger rotors after I tired of the original calipers sticking and causing drag. That was costing me around 1 litre per hundred! I have no idea how many miles the car has done, speedo failed at 94K, but that's all fixed now. At a guess, maybe 250K. Does not use oil, starts after a few revolutions, little bit of smoke (after the start puff), then runs clean.
For the time being I would love some bolted vents....anybody got some, with frames?? Actually I would settle for a LHS only... OH yeah and a supercharger for the motor.....

Currently heading for 500km on just over half a tank of dealer-supplied diesel in the Polo TDi. Yep - first tank. What an awesome little engine this is!

And this has been shall we say taking liberties at the traffic lights due to the amount of power off the line this thing has. Should settle in to some nice figures by the time it has loosened up.

    empty tank ??

Just got home (Adelaide) from a trip to Sydney etc. Jetta TDI DSG.

I got to Hay and thought it would be good to top up the tank but the nozzle at the servo would not fit and was told they were all like that in Hay.

A bit p***ed off I got to West Wyalong 928.5 K from home. My biggest concern is the car took 52.85L, (fully loaded 5.7L/100, 49.6mpg @ 110km/h gps, 120km/h car speedo) thats only 2.15L left

What would happen if I let it run dry?? Do you have to bleed injectors or something?

    cheers Macca

Modern diesels don't have to be bled.
