and ask to speak to Peter West he will reveal all. Or you can preview the set up by looking at their website.
If your dealer should do an upgrade for whatever reason you take your car back to the place you had it tuned and they keep the software on their laptop with your rego against it. They can then re-install the tuning codes. Each car, even if they have an identical engine type, has its own tuning specific to its individual Engine Management ECU so no two cars have exactly the same tuning codes. Your car is taken in and connected via the OBD port to the laptop which 'reads' the engine's codes and that info is sent, via e-mail to Germany. Several hours later, an e-mail is received back which will have the new codes for your particular car. They are not interchangeable with anyone else's engine. The germans seem to have the best tuning systems as they tend to work well within the capabilities of the engine. The latest diesels seem to be capable of approaching the magical figure of 100 bhp / liter displacement and indeed I know that the latest 2.4l 5 cylinder diesel Alfa 159 produces 240 bhp after chip tuning.
There is alot of wasted time going back and forth to get the car back to its flashed power upgrade.

    DP chip

I also had the DP chip installed year and a half ago.
After looking at Oettinger (double the price and a third of the wty) I thought what have I got to loose.
the other reason was I live in FNQ, so for any Oettinger service I was too far away from service centre, whereas with DP chip, you can always get sent a nother unit.

no complaints, except some excessive soot speweing on hard accellaration, but ofcourse only if you look in the rear-vision mirror!

easier driving style, with less shifts.
Not having driven an Oettinger or any of the others, I can't say how it compares in smoothness, drivability etc.
installation is fairly simple, althought someone did it for me, and unit can be removed and installed on other cars, which may be a bonus when selling the car.

Shogun convinced me, as he had his done a while before mine.
my car has done 60K, about 30K with chip.
regards and let us know what you decide.

    chips

It would be a real plus if all those who have brought chips could post the price paid here and then it would be possible to chart the result. Even better if claimed figures could be list also.
Could someone tell me if the original VW IC chip is hard soldered on to the PC (printed circuit), cause if a IC socket mount was used its a small job to swap IC's.
I was quoted $1700.00 from Muller Muller for a Oetinger chip fitted to a T4.
Never thought they'd be this dear?

I got a quote for the Dp chip from Berrima Diesel for a GT Sport TDI $1300 or $1420 supply and fitted. Am going to get one from Berrima Diesel and get them to install as it's a nice drive down there and be lots of twisty roads to explore with the chip after it's done From memory I think for a T4 you're looking at about $1350. Go to www.dpchip.com for full details.
