VW Diesel PD Piezo Injector. (also for non piezo injectors)

Did anybody pay for repairs after the warranty, when the PD injector(s) failed in their car?

Do you know anybody who was out of pocket, when PD Piezo injector failed after the warranty?

Not sure if this has been mentioned but looks like a recall for injectors in the UK.

Octavia 2004 | Skoda | Car Reviews | Honest John

From the bottom of the page:

    Recalls
31-12-2011: Apparently, all VAG models with the 2.0TDI engine from around 2005 fitted with Siemens peizo injectors are subject to a recall which involves replacing all the injectors FOC. Job takes around 3 hours. A short circuit within the injectors causes the fuel system to shut down and engine cuts out.

28-1-2012: Manufacturer recall to replace Siemens Piezoelectric injectors of 2006 - 2009 2.0 TDI BMN engines. All the injectors from the the 2.0 TDI PD engines that use piezoelectric Siemens injectors and Siemens ECUs are affected by this problem. The most problems are on the Passat BKD 2.0 TDI 140HP. No problem from 2009 and the introduction of the common rail 2.0 TDI engine (CEGA).

So, in the UK, they're recalling all 2.0TDI cars?

I note the passat BKD motor has the biggest problem... which worries me because my golf has a BKD in it...

Personally I think that's a typo, and it's the same BMN 170hp engine in the Passat that is failing the most from what I see. The 140 uses Bosch injectors, and whilst they can still fail, they do so a LOT less often, and it doesn't necessarily shut the engine down, just that cylinder. You can also buy all the parts from Bosch, as opposed to the closed door policy for spare parts at Siemens.

No, because it is a UK/euro only thing at this stage, and only on certain VIN numbers. What they are is anyones guess, as per usual VW are keeping all details quiet. It may happen here eventually, but I'm not holding my breath....

My mate picked my car up from the dealership today, they had it for 3 1/2 days. Apparently all four injectors have been replaced, will have to check the paperwork and see what part numbers were used and whether the harness was replaced.

Sep 2007 MY2008 Golf GT TDI, 125kW PD170 BMN engine with Siemens piezo injectors.
    Just under 120,000km.

    Cost - $0.

Dealership - Central Coast Motor Group at Gosford.

Do you have extended warranty / dealer history? Could this be a silent bulletin thing over here finally??
