khamtran, is your car a GT? I thought the oem tyres were hankooks (on normal tdi's)

I'm pretty sure GT's had continentals not Bridgestones, well mine did anyway.

+1 for Conti's but in later times the RE050 seems to be quite common.

funny actually, this is exactly the problem i've been having with my mk3 golf. I got a set of pirrelli p6000 on it last year around april, and now they are about 3/4 worn and the noisiest tyres i've ever had. they are all "scallopped" aswell.

I always run my tyres at a bit over the recommended pressure (always get better handling, life and fuel economy) but these tires just seem to wear badly. still, i've got 45,000 km from them.

Mine's not a GT but a 103TDI with sports pack which came with Potenza RE050 17" 225x45 rubber and sports suspension.

Sounds like an easy fix anyhow and luckily isn't a mechanical issue.

ahh yah sports pack

my old work neighbour got a really early tdi with the sports pack, but it had hankooks... being an early car they probably put whatever on it.
