Has anybody gained experience in tuning the 128kw 2.5tdi yet?
I have used a tuning box in a 90hp mk3 Tdi golf many years ago and it transformed the car. so i was going to go down that road with the T5 but im not sure it will have the same results being the Pd unit injector engine.
Most tuning places wil recomend to sell you the remap (which they would it around $1400 a pop) this however quotes the same hp figures as the tuning box which only costs a couple of hundred.plus theres no external way you can actually tell they have done anything so if you fork out the money and theres no gain your going to wonder whos pulling whos leg!
207hp quoted and 450 lbs torque is not to be frowned at in a van!
i realise the tuning box so called tricks the engine into thinking its cold and adding more fuel but does the remap really do a better job for the money?
I think it would also be fun to experiment with boost on this engine as id bet its running a fraction of what it really can.
I would like to hear some ideas as i definatly intend to have a play with my engine and take it as far as it will go - maybe beyond!![]()
I'm running a TDI (Turbo Diesel International) piggyback module on my Caddy 1.9TDI.
It's made a difference to the performance. Smoothed the boost curve out and gave it a great deal more run on than standard with a reasonable bump in performance over all. They quote 20% extra hp and torque, but i somehow doubt it was that great of an increase.
It also improved the fuel economy by about 10%, so more grunt AND better economy.
Hope that helps.
