Superchips Bluefin on a Mk5 GT Sport TDI

Just thought I'd post my impressions of the Superchips Bluefin on my car in the diesel section. Just finished flashing the ECU and WOW! Love it. Heaps more power and torque, feels heaps better. The turbo is noticibly louder. It has heaps smoother power delivery - no dead spot then sudden surge of power. Spins its wheels when hooking around corners heaps more.

It took me about half an hour from when I opened the box to getting a file back from the UK and flashing the ECU. They sent the file back quick smart!

According to the superchips website I now have about another 25kW (125 up to 150) and 77NM more than I already had (359 up to 432). Not bad.

Another thing you can use the Bluefin for that isnt talked about much is to display diagnostics and log 3 minutes worth of data like RPM, speed, boost, pedal position etc.

    Nice one.

I'll be in Newcastle in late December. You reckon you could take me for a spin in it? Be keen to experience it before I bought one.

    Cheers.

Sounds good. Do they also make one for the petrol version?

Glad it worked out for you - I must say I wasn't that incredibly impressed with mine. Sure its a little faster but I wouldn't rave on about it. Luckily it was cheap. I will agree that their service is fantastic though. They had several goes at mine to try and improve it and even when I got a new ECU in the car a year or so later they wrote me a new map for this too.

Really? Thats odd, the difference in mine is like night and day. I might put it back to stock for a few days and have another compare Ah the flexibility of a Bluefin.

Yeah I would love to get mine on a Dyno and reset it back to stock then run the Bluefin again and compare to see the difference.

Hi guys, I've been really interested in bluefin as an alternative to APR which is so expensive. Is it really that easy to put it back to stock and then back to bluefin using the device as described in the manual? How long does it take? Also is it much noisier after the upgrade? I beg to be different, but I love the quietness of my 118 TSI and would rather it remain that way after the upgrade. This option appeals to me because it is less than half the price of APR and the fact that it is DIY. I you revert back to stock when you take it to VW dealer for service and the dealer upgrades the stock ECU, do you back up the revised stock VW ECU again to the bluefin device? If you do, then do you need to send this again to Superchips for a new revision of the superchip product? I hope you understand my question.
