Yeah I know, I just don't have VCDS.

Mine is about 10% optimistic vs fill calculations in stock tune and about 5% with the remap. I'd say your accuracy is exceptional as our Golf is similarly optimistic.

Why would the accuracy change with a remap? Isn't the calculation basically a combination of the amount of fuel going through to the injectors & the distance travelled?

Yes and No, it's the amount calculated from the injectors ON time.

I've never run out of diesel, but as gldgti says, the fuel system in Golf and other 4cyl. TDI should self bleed. Just turn the ignition ON/OFF several times and crank the engine, it will eventually start, just make sure your battery is healthy and in a good state of charge. Otherwise you get stranded even if you carry the 20L jerry can to fill up, once you runout of fuel.

The V6 TDI could be a different story when you run your tank dry, and some other Euro diesels like MB may need a lot of cranking before they start and in the process you could flatten even a fully charge battery.
