You don't need the radio code, car knows the code. Just replace the battery.
Hello all!!!
I have bought a battery - and want to replace it myself. (2008 Skoda Roomster)
Then I thought - what about the radio code?
So I rang Skoda - they said ring the dealer. Rang the dealer - they said to get the code they need to run the scan tool over it, or if you pull the radio out it is on the back (seems like a pointless security feature if it is on the back of the radio).
Anyway - has anyone changed a battery in their Roomster? Does it ask to enter the radio code? The nearest Skoda dealer is almost 100km away, so I would rather not do the drive if I dont have to.
thank you in advance

Only need the radio code if moving the radio to a different vehicle.
Have had my battery out numerous times - never an issue!
Good luck!

That's pretty much got it covered, once a radio code is entered into a particular car it should just work in that car forever, the code is only needed if you pull it out and put it in another car.
The whole electrical system in VW's might be overly complicated, but then when it does things like this which make it a pain if it's stolen (for the thief) but don't piss off the owner when the battery goes flat is just magic.

...or unless you put another VW radio in and then you go back to the original radio, you may need that PIN. But, not when you're just disconnecting or replacing the battery.
If you have your radio out for whatever reason, just write down the serial number and keep it in the owners manual, should you need the PIN in hurry, the VW dealer is able to supply the PIN to the owner of the car. However some may charge you a fee for that.
Those with the RNS510, I can read the PIN using the RNS diagnostic tool.

Vw are ok but some other brands are a pain, I have a D22 Navara Dx cab chassis , I bought a 6 stacker off Ebay out of a D40 2012 model . ,The owner had a GPS unit installed by Nissan , but did not have the pin Nissan told me it would only work in that particular car,
So I thought I had bought a mantle piece, until hooked it up and it worked with out the pin , and has worked flawlessly for over 1 years .When I rang NIssan back complaining that their vehicle Security was useless as the radio worked with out any pin they could not supply an answer ,
