I don't think you can upgrade the TDI to a K04.
Instead you should be looking at a tune and a free flowing exhaust.

    Check out customcode or viezu.

Darkside Developments + 1, I have some of their parts on my car. Very nice bit of gear.

Be aware it will be a pretty costly exercise here in Australia. Requiring new injectors/nozzles, balancing and tuning which just about no one has really done over here for small euro diesel engines.

    agreed,
the tuning would be the hardest part, and fitting if you can't do it yourself
I've priced it out without tuning and exchange rates and your looking at about 1100 for injectors,3k for turbo, 700 for intercooler and piping so thats almost 5k without it being tuned, you'd also need egt and boost gauges, upgraded clutch, etc, i can't see this happening without costing under 7k.
If you want that kinda power, buy a gtd or a gti.

Just as an aside, while this is good advice for a gasser, it doesn't apply for most TDi's which need more airflow - free flowing exhausts and dump pipes tend to cause boost spikes according to the experts at tdiforum (who have played with all manner of things)
