Oil blowby vapour from the tappet cover mate. Hobbling EGR is a whole different story, and would be a BAD move in a chipped 103.
Sorry for the doppy question but where is the provent fitted. Is it to do with the EGR or catching the oil from the crankcase ventilation PCV?
cheers Macca

Hi all,
I don't want to sound stupid..its probably to late but what is a Provent 200
I've Googled it but still not quiet sure.

its a catchcan

And a catchcan is used to separate out the oil from the crankcase fumes that are fed into the inlet tract (to burn the crankcase emissions). This greatly reduces the build up of gunk in the inlet tract cause by combination of this oil with the exhaust gas from the EGR (to reduce exhaust gas temp and Nitrous Oxide emissions).
It won't make more power but should make you DPF and EGR valve last longer and keep your engine running better by keeping the inlet tract from getting constricted.
See this thread for more detail.
Exactly, its a super efficient catch can with a renewable internal filter and over 90% efficient. Every diesel should have one, as whilst it doesn't increase power, it maintains it, as the stock diesels and petrols to a lesser extent clog up with oil blowby and their exhaust gas recycling forming sludge in the inlet. This causes everything from power loss, poor economy to jamming up moving parts and coating valves. Cheap insurance. Vital if you have a DPF in the MkV GT, or any Mk6 diesel.
