100% agree poyta, I'm thinking of going led tails at some stage and I don't think ill be changing the fog and reverse light... I know it's a legal thing but unless I get pulled up I wouldn't bother changing them...
There's no easy way to swap them over. I would have to break apart the light case which is glued together , pray it doesn't snap then changed them over and re-glue it. Hardly worth the effort, I mean who cares if the Reverse light is on the left side or right side as long as it lights up when you put it in reverse right?

I actually don't think there is any Australian legislation that states which side the reverse light has to be on, all I know is that you need as minimum one reflector and one reverse light, three brake lights and two indicators. In any case which side the reverse is on is the last things that a cop would be concerned about- biggest concern is the dark tint on the lens which is bloody obvious and the complete lack of ADR compliance. Sorry but unless they have an ADR stamp on them they are not legal and a police officer has every right to defect you for them and ask for them to be returned to factory spec. I have yet to see any aftermarket tail-lights that have the ADR seal of approval. You take a risk with these - hence why I'm keeping my originals just in case.
If you're thinking about leaving the wiring as is and therefore you get a FOG light switching on when you select reverse then I'd say thats a NO NO. It will be even more obvious to police and probably a little dangerous too - not that the pissy little reverse light does anything to light up the view but it at least warns others of your intention.
At minimum you should at least flip the wiring so you get the correct light going on but as to which side its on, who cares.

pretty sure there would be an ADR on it... pretty sure policing it is non existant with all the BMW and Excels still driving with them on!
The reason it is there is so in heavy fog the cars behind you know which side to pass on especially if you have stopped in traffic... other wise you could be rear ended. In heavy fog that light can save you ass butm how many Aussies would know this about a rear fog light.

Starting toying with the idea of Vinyl wrapping.
Thought perhaps I may start with the most difficult part first to see if I could get away with it and see any potential problems so decided to tackle the side mirror covers.
Decided to go with Carbon Fibre and bought some of the 3M DiNoc vinyl - this is a heavily textured vinyl where you can feel the actual texture of the carbon weave and even the weave itself has an angled cut surface design to refract light just like real Carbon Fibre.
Word of warning to anyone want to attempt this -the mirror caps are a very intricate shape and its a major pain in the glutts to do it right. You will definitely need to get some 94 primer to paint some of the complex curved surfaces of the caps otherwise the vinyl will not bond and will come unstuck and you need a second pair of hands to help with the actual vinyl application as there's a lot of heat gun work and stretching required. I tried it on my own and stuffed it. Also I'd say its best to avoid using the DiNoc series and go for the 3m Scotchprint 1080 series. It more expensive but its a lot thinner and easier to work with. I've also been advised its more designed for outdoor use so more suitable for car applications. Downside is that the 1080 doesn't seem to have as nice a texture as DiNoc. Its still textured but generally is a bit flatter and doesn't refract the light as effectively. Its also a bit darker in colour than the DiNoc.
Here are the caps after I finished.
And here are the caps fitted to the car.
Keep in mind that like real Carbon Fibre the sheen dramatically changes depending on the outside light, so in a bright sunny day or under a garage light ( like in the photo above ) they have a real metallic shine to them while if its overcast they look quite dull. I have attempted to take a few photos in various conditions to show you what it looks like.
