    Poor Diesel ?

Here is a pic of another EGR ive pulled from a Golf 5, Been serviced from day 1 with low ash oil and used BP diesel most of the time. Engine has only done 80k, the condition of this i expected it to have done 300 odd. Can only put it down to crap diesel. Car does lots of highway stuff too so cant blame round town and prolonged idle. What do you reckon? im keen to hear the feedback, personally i think its pretty poor and cant put it down to design as VW have been at the forefront of green diesel since i started back in 88. Be great to hear what you think. Days are gone for reasonable quotes these days, im findiing im quoting telephone number quotes these days.
    Have a look

    Speak to Seb about this
Every week he will get at least 1 intake manifold removal and clean on a tdi/fsi/tfsi engine. Its now become a maintenance item!

this is not a new issue, every tdi since EGR was invented has been doing this all by itself. Theres also been heaps of discussion on here about it in the past.

The best solution is to try and remove as much oil vapour from the crank case vent gasses as possible - as mikinoz suggested - a pro-vent is a good solution. Then the exhaust soot cant form the sludge with the oil.

It really doenst matter what the fuel quality is like - all diesels (and it seems now the direct injection petrols) make a lot of soot during hard acceleration) and this is the result.

I was behind a golf R the other day going on to the hume at cambelltown, and WOW was there a lot of soot when the driver floored it once out of the corner (they were obviously a little annoyed my skoda was gaining in the corner .

The amount of soot i saw from that R is more than I see from a regular TDI doing the same thing.
