MY07-1.9TDI Polo - ABS light comes on and goes off when engine started.

    Guys,
I've been noticing of late on intermittent occasions my ABS light comes on and goes off when the engine is started.
When the ignition switch is turned on all the dash warning lights including the ABS light come on and go out. But when the engine is started the ABS light comes in momentarily and goes out.

    What could be the reason??
The car has run 97300kms and will be 7 years old this August. It is still running on the original factory fitted battery.

Your inputs would be greatly appreciated thanks.

    Voltage.
I'm betting a new battery will stop it.

    It's self-checking, which is normal.

Only worry when it stays on all the time when the car is running.

    You've probably never noticed it.

Negative guys it's never done it i.e. Momentarily come on when the engine is started.

BTW I got the battery checked n it was showing between 10-11volts. Techs say ABS coming on n going out after engine is started indicates not enough voltage for ABS to run its scan when ignition is switched on hence it coming on again when engine is started.

The current battery was 6.11 years old so I decided to replace it before it gives up the ghost without notice. I think this is a long enough life for the original battery.

However I have a query regarding the new battery purchased from the VW dealer for $276.

    Old Battery Code: IJ0915105AD - 12V61Ah330A DIN.

    New Battery Code: VW000915105DE -
    12V 61Ah 330A.

The new battery size is smaller than the original battery?? Even though the rating is the same. Has battery technology advanced that smaller batteries carry the same cranking capacity as the bigger original battery that came with the car in 2007??? I always thought that the 1.9TDI battery would be bigger than it petrol engines counterpart??

Both those battery specs are the same, so maybe it is improved battery technology
