    the gasses still need to go somewhere - and they're still laden with hydrocarbons, jsut less of them than before the provent. if you block off the provent vent, then it wont work anymore...

    you could vent it to atmosphere, which is a bit naughty. you could put it into the exhaust, which might be a little less naughty. or you can put it back into the intake pipe, where its supposed to go, and do the most responsible thing.

    either way blocking it isnt a viable option. the system has to go to atmospheric pressure or less.

    Actually I don't think they would. Many years ago in the ACT they introduced a "user-pays" principle for 3rd party personal insurance (ie based on actual claim and blame experiences). The end result was 3rd party bike premiums dropped by over 50%, which makes sense if you think about it a bit :

    The vast majority of bikes don't have a passenger on board.

    If the rider has a single vehicle accident then he is the only one injured so no 3rd party claim on the bike's insurance.

    If it is a bike/car crash then it is the car driver's fault way more often then the bike rider's fault ( I used to ride, and trust me, I tried very hard not to run into cars - it hurts). So often you hear "But I didn't see him" (translation -"I am a bad driver and I wasn't looking"). Again, no 3rd party claim on the bike's insurance.

    So the only time there is a 3rd party claim on the bike's insurance is when the bike rider is at fault and he injures either a pillion passenger or someone in another vehicle. This does happen, but not very often compared with the other scenarios.

    I'm not saying that there aren't some bike riders out there who are just an accident waiting to happen , and that our taxes don't go towards attempting to save their lives and fix them up after they crash (thanks medicare), but if you look objectively at an "at-fault" system like 3rd party personal injury insurance then you can't justify a huge increase in premiums for motorcyclists.

    And put a vent in behind the intercooler into the wheel arch. That air has to flow somewhere! Something with vents that face down so dirt from the wheel arch doesn't get in too much, but from memory, the side mount doesn't lok to flow air well to me.

    lmfao i did that cog, and when i admitted i'd crashed the polo (no damage other than a bent wheel) my mech said "come back in for a faring re-fit becuase when you crashed it blew a whole lotta plastic outta the guard" lol.

    dean@ volkspower. bless him for being serious about car performance where as i have to be content with putting holes behind my smic, lol.

    hahaha that being said, im still going back to get a new wheel arch lol

    Wreckon you can get the EGR deleted via a chip. Its being done in the states left and right. I also know of electrical shunts designed to fool the ECU that the EGR is open when in fact it has been blanked off. I have a benz, almost exactly the same system as golf 5, fitted the shunt and blanked off the EGR line. End of story, no CEL's and no worries!

    If you got a chip that tuned the fuel and ignition etc to account for no more EGR... and then just redirected the EGR pipe so it vented back into exhaust further down, you would have no issues and the car would not know any different.
