    dont be silly.

get a chip (125ish kw) then work on tyres, brake pads/ rotors, and suspension suspension suspension as well as the bushes...

power doesnt make you fast, cornering does.

What he said. But, rather than chip, go for the remap.

If it's going to be a sleeper, you probably want to drive it as your daily and not as a purpose built for the track days only. Then you better stay within the safe limits; usually +30kW and around 72Nm torque.

If you're chasing that sort of power. You will need to go down this path.

You can definitely make 200kw with any of the 1.9 or 2.0l 4 cylinder TDI's, but you will have to pour money into it (especially if you do not know how to DIY.

All you need is a really big turbo kit, a set of high flow injectors, a straight through exhaust with no DPF or cat, and a tune to run it all.

If I had $10,000 to spare it could be done easily (ok, its not the money though, its justifying the expenditure) Basically the upper limit for the 4 cylinder TDIs without going to 2 or more turbo's and on standard internals is 300hp.

I would get a 9n Polo or a MK5 2.0L TDI (NOT a GT) and buy all the fancy bits from darkside.

Even if you set your goal a little lower you could have a very quick car that not many will suspect.

Hell even my humble Octavia surprises some impatient falcadore drivers when freeway merging nowadays, and its only cost me about $2500 in engine mods. (Turbo, exhaust and tune)
