Well its been a few weeks since any updates

Received the 2" lips for the 8" front RS's specs will be as follow 17x9 +35 front and 17x9.5 +16 rear
    Currently sanding/priming the inner barrels
    Centers away for painting
Front lips and hexs are away getting polished
Waiting on new nuts and bolts
And tyres have been ordered from Ozzy Tyres - Nitto Neogen 215/40/17
Once everything arrives then the camber and guard flaring begins lol
However I may be off to Japan in the next few weeks so progress might not as quick as I would like

Gave Ozzy a call and my tyres won't make it in time for the show and shine I'm hoping to enter so they were changed to 205/45's now and were shipped out today
Also called the polisher and should have my front lips and hexs by the end of the week
And lastly finished priming up the inner barrel, all ready for painting now

Finished painting all the barrels gloss black.
Centers came back as well base coat in body colour however chucked some blue holo metal flake into the clear.
Couldn't get clear enough pics in sun wouldn't 'pop' like in person so just pics of the centers themselves.
Will be calling the metal polisher tomorrow as he said lips and hexs should be ready to pickup
Then just waiting on new nuts and bolts and tyres

Hey mate, I really like what you've done with this TDI Golf. I have a 2006 TDI DSG Comfortline and was close to upgrading to a new GTI this week. After looking at this I'am re-thinking and maybe doing some tuning upgrades as it seems like a I may be able to get a little more performance from the old Mk5 before needing to go to a MK6 GTI. That's all I really want, I little more go as the TDI 1.9 is a little slow after owning it stock for a couple of years.

This is a great post, so thanks a lot for the inspiration!

Wowzers. Nice shoes. Are you going to flare the guards yourself?

Just flicked through the rest of your thread (again); Where did you get your plastic bits colour coded and where do you get your bits polished?

^ in a non sexual way...

    Haha

Plastic bits can be painted at any panel shop, just make sure they undercoat them as well
Originally I had parts polished by Neway wheel repairs in Heidleberg but they also repaired the gutter on the 18s
Now I've got a guy in Coburg polishing the 17 parts and will update if the results are any good (so far his prices are great at $25 lip and $10 hex)

In regards to flaring I've got a few guys I can use, thinking of just using my mate in Hallam this time

Update - Bought Hong's old GTI leather interior, just need to source rear drivers door trim, arm rest, climatronic surround and a Kufatec wiring loom to retrofit it all (so I can use electric lumbar and heated seats)
Should be getting a call back tomorrow from one of the wreckers in regards to the parts and then just need to order the loom from Germany.
So currently interior is a mix and match of cloth/ leather lol

Also had my cousin grab a video of how sooty it is, but hard to tell how loud it is as it's from an iphone
However it''s on facebook so you will need to add me as a friend to view it i think :S

Local shop near my place, wayy to far for you to be driving to have something painted tbh. Would be 1.5hours easily
cost $300 which is average for a bar paint, can get cheaper at other places all you need to do is ask around
