    mk5/ polo TDI in a mk 1???

Had a bit of a brain fart, but work with me.

Just wondering if anyone knows if a new 2.0 or 1.9 TDI would fit into a mk 1, or mk2/3 even? Since there are so many of these that come up at salvage auction all the time, and stuff...

and also, how would you go with running the electrics? Can a diesel be ran on an aftermarket computer, like microtec? (for eg)

Anyone have any ideas, or links??

    Cheers guys.

sure, you can do it... anyhting is possible. i'd say porting mk5 tech into a mk1 would be difficult though.... the new engines are all different now... not like everyhting from the mk4 down which you could just about guarantee would fit with the right combination of parts.

you'd be opening a large can of worms trying to port aftermarket ecu onto a new diesel aswell - since it would be asking yourslef to do a LOT of reverse engineering. the new diesels have complicated maps for fuel/boost/timing and i for one wouldnt like to try it without being paid to do it ... so if it were me, i'd be trying to port thew whole loom across....

why not try a late model polo dash/loom/engine into mk1 conversion....? sounds like fun

technically though Aydan, couldnt you flash the aftermarket ECU with say the Oettinger programme? Is that not a complete programme?

however yes i daresay my model TDI Polo would be a heck of alot easier to convert into a mk1.

its definately possible though and it would be QUICK! !

I know anything's possible, but some stuff is impractical. (obviously)
