mine is 1 click out for front fogs and 2 clicks for front + rear.
Front fogs work in Off position and also in parker and low beam position.
Rear fogs only works when in parkers or when low beams are on.
(next mod : the dual rear fog light - take the rear left lights out open up the hole for the globe (it's blocked off) then stick a new globe in)
Highbeam pull the CControl (Left side) Stalk in towards the steering wheel.
Half pull is momentary flash high beam to pass etc. you will see the blue high beam light on the instrument cluster light up while it is on.
Full pull will click on then full pull again to click off.

Gigitt and gldgti, thank you both!
I have sussed high-beam, and as a city dweller, before it was needed by me but probably just in time for others.
It seems that I was simply not pulling hard enough on the indicator stalk, probably worried about breaking it, and now I have both flash and full high-beam and even an indicator light on the dash, (I had wondered why it was always lit and thought it a dash lighting light). Great progress for simple minds.
On the fogs switch, mine only seems to pull out one click, and yes, I did try pulling harder. Interesting how different these cars are, one from the other. I presume that means I wont have a reverse fog, but thanks for the info, I will also look into this.
Anyone know a reliable auto electrician to let loose on a Golf cruise control?

With the Fogs... Front Fog lights were not standard, but optional.
Mine did not come on my car when I bought it... I bought them soon after and they connected right into the factory wiring harness at the radiator
The front fogs are projector based and fit into the bumper next to where the blinkers are.
Also your standard headlight switch will be only rear fog capable... so 1 click out and rears turn on - and no option for turning on front fogs.
You have to buy a euro headlight switch which will come with Front and Rear fog option... just next to the headlight dial you will the Pics and LED status lights for the front/rear fogs. 1 pic and 1 red led means only Rear Fog. 2 Pics and 2 LEDs are Green for front and red for rear fogs.
OK Cruise control is just the Left stalk and 4 wires going to a connector under the dash - how do I know - I addd cruise control 1st by hooking up 2 switches to the connector (1x On/Off switch and 1x 2 way MON-OFF-MON (momentary O) for the SET and RES) I have a Bently Manual and can read wiring diagrams. then I bought the stalk later on off eBay Germany
The Cruise Control in Mk3 TDI is electric and DBW - Drive By Wire directly controlled by the ECU.
In Mk3 Pertol cars CC is not simple and cannot be converted for TDI's.
Just a side note - I have Manual TDI so there is also 2 extra switches used for Cruise to work - 1 for Brake and 1 for Clutch pedals... these are Extra Switches meaning that my brake and clutch have 2 switches each installed even though I did not have CC Factory fitted there were already there. If you do not have the 2nd switches on you Brake and Clutch (or just your Brake for Auto) then the CC will not work. These swtiches disable the CC if you brake or press the clutch in.
So if you are trying to test Cruise control you have to Turn it on, then be driving over 30km/hr to SET the speed you are currently travelling.
Your SET speed is remebered if CC is canceled by brake or clutch - then you can use RES (Resume) to go back to that speed - like if you are comming up behind a car or rolling too fast down a hill and you hit the brake to slow down or clutch to change gears.
Turning OFF the Ignition clears the Set Speed and I also Think so does turning OFF the CC on the Stalk.

My brain is full! Thanks everyone again.
Will see what I can do here.
I have no front fog lights as far as I can see.
Looking for a Bently manual may be a good start.

Ah a wiper stalk issue.
I couldn't find this in the Mk3 thread, possibly due to my poor searching ability.
(And rather than embarrass the entire VWW forum, I thought I would post here
I have found in the recent rain that I can activate the rear wiper and control regular or intermittent and even the washer, but cant turn it off.
Well, that's not quite true, if I turn the ignition off and restart from intermittent, the rear wiper will stop from intermittent.
Don't use the rear wiper much, so wasn't that worried, but I am loaning the car to a friend's son for his driving test on Thursday, and he may be asked to demonstrate his knowledge of the wiper controls.
Any wisdom would be greatly appreciated.
