    Mapping v chipping

Buy a Caddy very soon and been involved on a english/irish caddy forum.
Over there they talk a lot about mapping while in Aust its been suggested I get the engine chipped.
Can you please explain the difference and whats best here. I will be doing a lot of sealed road country driving 400k at a time then country town driving.

Tonz, Mapping and chipping is different words for the same thing. Essentially your ECU has different software loaded to it, which change the way it controls the engine. Usually upping the boost and fuelling to suit.

Depending on where you live, you may struggle to get it done. It sounds like you will be in the back of beyond. Lots of tuners, myself included, have the ability to bench flash ECUs. So you can post them off to get them done. Removing and re-fitting isn't a big deal.

    Cheers
