Have you had it since new? 149kW sounds like a bit of an overestimate for a standard 2.0 diesel with exhaust, intake and tune.. Might be wrong though, u dont have a DPF I guess.

Yeah I could meet up at some point, I've got a Reflex Silver TDI too. I'll keep an eye out for you.

i have done the math to the best of my ability but if its less then thats fine too the revo tune gives it 45 odd kw for a non dpf they rekkon. i know it will be alot better than now and its not a show/race care anyway . would love a gt but im a couple of years away from upgrading this one. Had it almost a year now. got more photos of yours? dont think ive ever seen it. im thinking of doing a sugarloaf run to hex in the neext couple of weeks, ill let you know.

I've only seen a couple of other GTs in Newcastle, one silver and one white.

Yeah let me know about the Sugarloaf run, I'd be keen to check it out.

    +1.

Bare in mind that a standard car will probably have close to 85kw at the wheels (that's a guess, could be much less!), not the 103kw which the engine is rated at...

Regardless, sounds like a good plan and these engines can be made to perform very well. Good luck!

Good choice on buying a TDI.

IMHO the exhaust will just make noise. The intake will give some improvement but mainly for the slower low down driveability stuff.

I recommend you save your dollars for better suspension. The spring will look tough but it will make your dampeners bouncy and shorten their life.

You can get second hand GTI suspension for less than those two purchases combined and you'd do a lot better at the track.

    Cheers

Think he's talking about at the fly wheel not front wheels.

woops yeah i meant at the fly, probably have around 120fwkw which isnt oo bad.

ill see how the springs go, wont be hitting the track anytime soon all i do is go to work and uni. maybe down the track i can get one of these 900- 1200 dollar coilover kits for it. got the springs for cheaaaap so they will be more than adequate for now.

found an r32 wrecking on ebay today, hoping i cant get the front bar and sideskirts. no use getting the rear as i dont want an exposed exhaust i think its neat being hidden.

other than that i wont be doing much. shes got alot of k's and ill be trading her in for a gti in a couple of years so i dont want to waste too much money. but then again it would be fun

jazd the sugarloaf / hez run will be in 2 weeks or so. got a couple of friends with decent cars so wouldnt be a bad drive.

got my revo tune today! jesus christ! boost starts at around 1750rpm and keeps pulling hard until redline.
    highly reccomended!
euroworks on the central coast did mine for $800 cash, highly worth it !
18's are back on, calipers are red, and springs will be in in 2 weeks

jetta side skirts, and gti front bumper are being couriered to me as we speak! then im gonna take it easy for a while

any other fellow diesels done anything lately?

So many people lower their cars with springs alone and it does EXACTLY what benough has stated.

It only makes the car look better (to many but not me) and improves steering response on billiard ball smooth roads but is worse than stock in EVERY other way. Not only on the track (where you can sensibly employ the full benefit of the power mods) but also on every day roads, especially bumpy ones.

Unless you get uprated dampers to match, lowering springs reduces your car's performance.
