Dry filter to avoid any MAF sensor damage, however unlikely, with an oiled filter. MAF grid has been absent from waaaaay back mate, standard tune, zero problems. The grid is only there because of the sharp 90 degree lid outlet on the stock box. Fix the airflow, ditch the 22% restrictive grid. Making my own "racepipe" that still includes the important shutdown flap, in case of run away. You blow a turbo seal and start dumping oil ( fuel ) into the inlet with an Allard pipe, and well, you've got an out of control situation. Remember a diesel will happily ingest just about anything for fuel, and the fuel is the throttle.
