    Good stuff!
I was sitting in traffic today in 30 degree heat (with ac on) pondering the heat soaked intercooler and thought of this thread.

    Let the tinkering resume...!

I expect it's halfway here by now. Picking up some refugees on the way maybe??

No point asking Matt, he'll just be waiting for the phone call to go and get the stuff.

You need to remember that a diesel may have great torque, but so too do you have to change more gears over a petrol car with their greater rev range, so keeping up with decent 4 and 6 cylinder cars in a "drag" is quite an effort. In my old BA GT FPV I had little competition overall, but one youn P plater in his parents Honda gave me a great run for my money, so you can never discount some of those "normal" cars as they have good sprint ability if driven within an inch of their life.

Hate to say it Craigy, but with the DPF gone, and a stage 2 tune, you're going to have traction issues, especially in a FWD. I'll be going a Peloquin or similar LSD asap, and some serious suspension upgrades. I currently need new rubber, so for once i might just listen to Mav, and go those asymmetric tyres he and others seem to rave about, for I'll be needing all the grip I can muster.

On a side note, spent yestarday being driven around in my new boss's Merc 220 CDI 2.2 oiler, which was an amazingly smooth ride, and had similar mid range performance with it's 400nm, got back in my Golf that night, and I felt like I was in a go-cart in comparison! Choppy ride, sitting up high and peaky power, but then I got back into the swing of it and started enjoying it again. Need the Custom Code work so I can shut him down, at least power wise. Merc sure know how to make a nice car!

what tyres did your car come with as standard? conti's are all asymmetric... well, the performance ones anyway.

i've run a few assymmetric tyres and always liked them (from conti premium contact, to yoko a539's). alas, now i'm cheap and all my tyres seem to be directional only.

Well I'm only just getting around to actually hooking it up finally Tint ol' mate!

Ordered a set of VW fuses to do it all "properly" and well, it took ages to get them. I'm planning about 4 Jaycar kits for a few functions, and decided to give them their own fuse off the battery rail on the front of the engine fuse box. I've hooked it up roughly to see if it works, but as yet no driving data. Hope to change that next week now i have time off work!

Had a fun day today, mounted my RAM iPod holder and hooked it up to the alpine, works nice. Did think twice about drilling holes in the centre console, but I do want a permanent mount somewhere. RAM are pricey, but they sure have some nice stuff.

Finished off the Polar intercooler ducting, and gave credit where credit is due! I decided to go one step further than the boy from Perth, and actually cut down the plastic front piece to get the whole intercooler included in the duct. I'm sure my neighbours loved the compressor and air dremel going during their Christmas lunch today ( my fam is tomorrow, so play day today! )

AWESOME WORK. When I did it I decided to leave that bottom plastic bit as i figured it would take impacts if the car bottomed out better than thin ally, but its probably a moot point. Looks very neat and tidy! Did you make something for the top of the radiator assembly too? you need both top and bottom sealed to get the full gain! Love the bear mark! Now there is a bit of polar on the diesel!

The plastic is still there, I just trimmed it down to "flat", so the bottom ally is still above the bumper "pan", it simply lines up with the bottom of the cooler. see the first pic. The top was sealed as you described, and again I did it in two pieces, and it seals all the way behind the bonnet catch. Took my time making it right.

Credit where credit is due mate!
