No don't be sorry the thread NEEDED hijacking to get back on target!

I figure feeding the oil blowby into a muffler, via a winding copper tube to bleed off the heat, is the answer. Just need to work out how to align the tube so it is indeed a venturi, and doesn't back up with exhaust, defeating the whole purpose.

I think that you can't remove 100% of the oil from the blow by and that's the problem. But yu got me thinking.

Two Provents in series, or a smaller second or even third option would certainly do a lot if you have the room! Personally I'm just plumbing mine into the exhaust. A week of driving and not one oil drip yet is sign enough it's just vapour with a good condition Provent filter cartridge. Obviously that changes as the internal filter oils up.

I could try second Provent in series, since I have the second one I didn't use.
I wait for your report how will you go with the Provent plumbed to the exhaust.

Hi mate, not sure if i'm on the track but one of the polo guys has a crankcase fume evacuation setup with a one way valve plumbed to the exhaust. Any use?

That would work 100% but unfortunately would be illegal for road use. The chemicals from the oil would be danger when in the air. Imagine every TDI converted like that.

I was thinking that you'd use one of these with the provent oil seperator, to avoid blowing exhaust gas back through it.

Provent does actually quite good job, so it is probably not worth of the trouble. Might as well went it to atmosphere.
The reason why it would be illegal is because Provent doesn't remove 100% of the oil 100% of the time and need to be monitored and filter inside replaced regularly.
But thumb up to that bloke with Polo in that thread you posted link to.

Awesome find Phil, thankyou! I'm onto one of those valves!

My Provent plumbed currently to air is nasty. All I can smell is burning oil at the lights, and at night, I can see the smoke in the headlights if the breeze blows that way. I have a new Provent insert. The pipe is still oil drip free, and the Provent is collecting liquid well but there's a LOT of blowby gas in the GT TDI. I have to dump it in the exhaust far enought up that it will burn, as even plumbing it out the back, is going to give you, and the car behind, that sickly burning oil smell. It's not good.

The upside is my inlet is clean, even if I'm giving myself lung cancer.
