Hmmm, retrospective toughening of emission regs. That will be a first, as in the past they have relied on new cars (with stricter regs) replacing the old "polluters". Given how the states still maintain control over the actual road laws that are enforced I can see this being a bit controversial and the introduction may be a bit "fraught". Time will tell I guess.
Bottom line is the black particulate stuff you can see may look bad, but it seems the much smaller particulates you can't, which DPF's seemingly produce instead, is far more harmful. I'm more worried about raising my NO emissions to be honest, but my planned water meth and other cooling ideas should counter this when the EGR gets hobbled.
With towards 500nm I think traction will be the biggest issue, what a bummer!

So I decided the stock elbow with a few mods was the go, it's 3" at the MAF end anyhow. Filled in the old stock oil vapour inlet, making the whole thing a nice smooth inner pipe. Re-used the stick on insulation from my stock airbox efforts back in my initial thread...

Spent far too much time getting my Pod to maf dead smooth, lots of filling and sanding, but it's now very nicely insulated from the very hot fuel pump with the entire red rubber cover over the inner 3" pipe.
I even filed down the protrusions on the MAF sensor, filled some casting holes, and made the entire thing as smooth, curved and airflow friendly as possible. Yep, I need a life...

Here's my first air blower, running from the hole behind the passenger headlight blowing across the top of the engine towards the turbo. Hopefully it'll help heatsoak at the lights, will let you know that the thermo says once I get the temp switch for it sorted. Sure moves some air!
I have a second one planned to blow across the turbo, from the inlet side, to try and keep the intake as cool as possible at the lights. I plan both an air pressure switch and a temp switch for them, so it only runs at low road speed and high heat situations, such as the lights.

Wouldn't it be more effective to put the blower at back of engine bay and suck the air towards the exit.. that way it would work in concert with the radiator fans when they come on ... they will suck towards back of engine bay in tandem with the nascar blower.
I think the heat soak issue is to do with the intercooler and radiator soaking rather than parts of the engine.

Yeah I thought about extraction, but a plastic fan and turbo heat didn't sound the best combo....anyway it's just zip tied in, so if the thermo tells me it doesn't work, it's easy to move. I do like the look of it though....and it has as much to do with keeping sensors etc from cooking over time ( I'm keeping this car long term ) as anything. Heatsoak is heatsoak, so the more I can "remove" the turbo heat, the better. Keeps the inlet etc cool as well, my idea is it just keeps the hottest air up the top of the engine at idle moving.

Low orbit using an extreme sling shot is possible if your so called local
COG you dont need to put the plastic blower near the hot area... just put the outlet of the blower down at back bottom of engine bay using a flexible heat resistant pipe, and put the mouth of it that is sucking so that it is near the radiator area.
That way you are sucking air through radiator and intercooler and promoting airflow.... rather than creating higher pressure behind the inetercooler and radiator with a blower pushing air into that area. You wan't to achieve the biggest pressure differential so airflow is promoted.
PS: my mod is going uber well temp wise.. I am always 5' degrees differential between ambient and Intake air temp. Which is great for $12.50 spend.
