Oilers don't have as big a chip...on the shoulder?
the 170pd is already a beast. i cant imagine it with another 100nm of torque....
Is milltek australia affiliated with CC? couldn't they knock up some downpipes locally or is it uk specific?
aside, i love how you diesel guys are so much more lax with this chip warz business.
none of this "my chip is bigger than your chip" shannanigans.

just on theorising about the dlf's removal and its effect..... look at it this way - if you run without an air filter, will you make more horsepower?
only with a DPF, you wont damage you engine in the long run by its removal
going from a stock exhaust on my mk3 TD to a 2.5" free system, the turbo spool was exceptionally improved.... it can only be a good thing. power gains will depend on just what your pushing though - if you've optimised a lot of other systems already, i think its fair to say you could expect reasonable gains. if the rest of the car is bog stock and all you do is ditch the dpf, then obviously the gains will be less.
i think generally (and this is largely to do with "chip war" type mentality), you cant put a quantifyable dollar value on each hp to be gained - it really comes down to the overall package....

is it just GT TDI specific?

what i was saying is, it all depends how much power you want... sorry - the point i was trying to make, to clarify, is that: The expected gains from a DPF delete like the one being talked about by the OP cant really be quantified in terms of hp gained other than on an otherwise completely stock vehicle, since the gains it potentially allows are far greater than that will be realised on an otherwise stock vehicle.
hope that makes sense

Turbo's work best with no exhaust pipe at all. The whole extractor / scavenging idea goes out the window after the turbine. As the DPF is by FAR the biggest restriction, ditching it will give the biggest gain. A big bore pipe and lower restriction mufflers would help, but by nowhere near as much. They never do.
On the inlet side again it all helps a bit, but just putting a POD onto a stock inlet is going to do stuff all really. As part of a total inlet makeover, yeah, great idea. I've not progressed there, due to both a lack of play money, and some new ideas I'm learning about. No rush, as this thread shows, the hot up parts are starting to flow, and I know a kit will appear for the inlet "up my alley".
The clutch and dual mass fly is going to be the biggest problem to hopped up TDI's in my opinion. Can't see the stock one holding up to a whack more torque. Part of my "dream" is an uprated "normal" clutch. It wouldn't be user friendly in a diesel though, the whole reason they use the "odd" dual mass in the first place.
Golfie, this would work in the Passat, Tiguan, any 170pd TDI, as it's the same donk.
