Jetta 2.0 TDi aFe stage 1 intake.

Hi Guys,

I've just bought two of these kits in from the states, and fitted it to my jetta 125Tdi and i have to say it was the easiest install and the best aftermarket fit on any part i have bought! it looks completely factory! it uses the lower half of the stock airbox and replaces the plumbing and filter.

As i only have one jetta, i need to offload the second kit i won by accident on ebay. it cost me $275 + $89 shipping USD, which at the moment is about $405 AUD. So the first person to offer me $350 gets it delivered to their door.

Gain 10 HP @ 3150 rpm & 23 lbs x ft. torque @ 3050 rpm

Nice one. I have not seen that before.

I don't want to put a dampener on your purchase - but I am not sure about the power increase claims. I have dyno tested my modshack intake (read a POD on the end of the MAF) and saw no increase in KW, but an smoothing of the power delivery and torque curve on the 2.0 103 TDI. Search modshack and it will come up. All of that aside - it is chalk and cheese between having it installed and not.

Other than that, it is one sexy piece of kit! I'd suggest moving the OEM intake section behind the grille for better airflow in there.

mikinoz: i did remover the baffle in the lower box. It feels a little better than stock, a few HP maybe in the top end. As for the noise, its actually really quiet, almost factory quiet.

To be honest Mik, in a lot of ways this is BETTER than a modshack, as there's no chance of ingesting hot engine bay air which mine definately is after an idle at the lights. Have tested it with a temp probe inside the modshack pod, and if I didn't always plan to seal my front completely to the stock pickup, I would have gone with something like this. My Pod body is darn close to the pickup / front too, like less than a cm, yet it still heats up like mad at the lights. This well designed and thought out kit solves a lot of the stock airbox problems in my opinion. I'd recommend this as a good buy people.

Most likely you can ditch the Maf grid now too, for that bit extra.

I killed the MAF grid quite some time ago. I do worry sometimes if the probe needs to be cleaned - would electrical contact cleaner be ok.

Sam, I did not realise that the pod fits in the OEM box. I thought it was directed down and then was exposed. Hence the comment re the sound. Even more stealth!

CRC makes proper MAF Cleaner, around $20 per spray can.
