Yeah its a EGR and ASV delete. I confirmed it fits a PD170 with darkside prior to purchase.

One less part IMO the ASV is fairly useless unless you are paranoid about runaway. Also the ASV is used to introduce a vacuum so that air is sucked from the EGR circuit, I dont ever want it to part close. I can't make much sense of the VCDS logs of EGR and ASV duty cycles, specified position, actual position etc.. I'm not convinced i have it fully disabled in the ECU. Theoretically a good EGR delete in the ECU code will take care of the ASV as well but I'd rather just physically remove it.

Yes thats the EGR only delete.

Not yet, didn't leave enough time on Saturday and the hang over on Sunday wasn't exactly motivating

I've now done 2000+km with no DPF, so far so good. Absolutely no issues with the Pendle Performance DPF removal software.

how's your EGR going? my EGR delete just arrived although I decided to opt for the one that retains the ASV

Im guessing the egr cooler is below the turbo on the pd170? Do you guys plan on getting rid of that too?

Nice thread jazd. Your doing some like minded modding - all the stuff I pulled off my old mk3 you are also doing, and similarly what I'm thinking of pulling off the skoda

I've also not been able to make much sense of the EGR/ASV duty cycles - but it does not seem to be clear cut what the measured value is, in terms of whether its "% on" or "% off", referring to the valve that controls the vacuum going to the ASV.

I tried to make sense of it a couple of times whilst driving along in my skoda and also in my dads t4 2.5tdi, and from what I measured on each car, it looked like the value measured meant something different on each vehicle (even though the ASV is pretty much identical).

Got a DSG tune done thanks to Gav at Optimum Code, he was thoroughly helpful. Its a Custom Code tune, I'm very pleased with the result, the box definitely shifts harder and quicker now and the torque limit has been increased. Before the DSG would tell the ECU to back off when it hit too much torque resulting in strange driving.

Still not done, couldn't work on the car in the rain on the long weekend. I'll do it soon hopefully, there's talk of a Newcastle dyno day soon so I'll have it on before then.

Yeah its at the back of the engine below the turbo. I'm not going to take it off but I might blank off the exhaust manifold port if its easy enough to get at.

Thanks. DPF delete on the Skoda or just EGR/ASV?

Yeah its quite odd, the tune I got from Pendle was supposed to disable the EGR but it the readings from VCDS didn't seem to change.. I couldn't really make head or tails of the data, even the EGR readings in mg/stk didn't seem to make any sense. I disconnected the EGR valve wiring (which means it is closed) and it was still reading like 500mg/stk etc.

Must be the hack in the software they did. Any changes in the exhaust gas temperatures, before and after disabling it?

Haven't really done a back to back comparison but I don't think there has been much change.

Guess where the DPF delete happened..

EGR delete pipe is in. Had to cut the metal connector off the end of the rubber hose with a Stanley so I could push it over the end of the delete pipe. The rubber hose ends up being a bit short because of this and It was a little difficult to bend it up and get it to fit properly. Probably should try and get a replacement silicone hose or something.

Also you need an extra bolt that didn't come with the kit, there is one really long bolt that goes up through the ASV and EGR and bolts into the intake manifold that you can't reuse. You can reuse the other two bolts that hold the EGR valve onto the manifold.

I replaced all three with M6x18mm socket caps.

Cleaned out the intake manifold as best as I could as well. Still didn't get all the crap out I have no idea how you can get into all the nooks and crannies. When taking the manifold off you might want to know that there is a bolt inside where the intake pipe connects, took me a while to find that one

Had the same issue with the bolt inside the intake. It was covered in sludge. I left my intake in a tub full of heavy duty degreaser and then cleaned the gunk with a toothbrush followed by stuffing a rag strip in each inlet and used it like a piece of floss. Very messy.
