I had my Golf Mk5 GTD DPF cleaned ultrasonically at DPF regen in Sydney resulting in 1% ash and no damage to the unit. Was pretty impressed with the clean though.

Sorry - missed that request - here you go! - I chatted to them on the website chat thing first..

Being ultrasonic, it is much less damaging to the DPF unit or so I have read, than from the heat and blasting treatment given at other places. who cost more anyhow.

It was cheaper to take it to them and get it taken off, cleaned and put back than have another mechanic do it and then take it to them as my other mechanic was $$$$. And I was young and stupid.
